SUSANN OFFENMÜLLER
Susann Offenmüller (*October 1, 1988) is a German composer, conductor, and music producer based in Los Angeles.
Her work spans cinematic scores, classical repertoire, and avant-garde electronic soundscapes, weaving together emotional depth and sonic innovation. She composes primarily for film, conducts orchestras across Europe and the U.S., and creates transformative electronic music under her artist name su.ann.
From a young age, Susann immersed herself in sound. She taught herself to play saxophone, drums, flute, piano, and clarinet, later becoming a professional bassoonist. But it was never just about mastering instruments — it was about understanding music from the inside out. About feeling, not just hearing. From the beginning, her creative drive has been rooted in one obsession: to go deep. To unravel the psychological and emotional truths that lie beneath every melody.
Her film compositions are marked by their emotional precision — merging Hollywood’s cinematic power with European cultural heritage and a postmodern edge. Her debut score for Everything That Will Happen Has Already Happened (dir. Vladan Nikolic) premiered at Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival in 2024. She was selected for the MSCN Film Music Festival Academy, the Young Talent Composer Programme of FMF Krakow, and the Audite International Conductors Academy in Budapest (2024–2025). She studied Composition for Film & Media at Berklee College of Music, graduating top of her class.
As a conductor, Susann is known for her sensitivity and presence. Her repertoire ranges from Bach to Shostakovich, and she brings new works to life with clarity and intensity — such as the 2024 premiere of Habibzadeh's Capriccio with the Northern German Film Orchestra. For Susann, conducting is about shaping energy, becoming a vessel through which the music breathes and speaks.
Her solo electronic project su.ann explores themes like female rage, grief, desire, and transformation, born from a desire to peel away every layer and reveal what’s real.
Whether she’s conducting a symphony, scoring a psychological thriller, or producing an electronic track, Susann Offenmüller creates from the deepest place she knows — the place where sound becomes story, and story becomes truth.
